In September 2019, Donnelly Watson installed new safety flooring at Hillcroft House, a residential care home in Stowmarket that provides accommodation for people with dementia.
Having been recommended Donnelly Watson by a colleague, the manager of Hillcroft House contacted us to discuss the home’s flooring requirements. With two residential lounges and a large communal hallway in need of updating, he was keen to replace the existing carpet with something a little more contemporary.
We worked closely with the client to identify the best type of flooring for Hillcroft House, making sure to consider the home’s residents as part of this process. After visiting the home and viewing the space, our director Dan recommended Polyflor’s Polysafe Wood FX non-slip safety flooring for both the lounges and hallway.
As well as bringing a fresh look to the property, the flooring was also the most practical choice; its non-slip qualities protecting elderly residents from falling or injuring themselves.
It was just as important to minimise disruption to residents during our time at the home. To ensure they could return to their rooms in a timely fashion, we assigned a team of six fitters to the job.
We also used a flexible, fast-setting screed which was quick to dry and made laying the floor a lot easier. Gradus SL150 PVC skirting was also fitted to protect walls against scuffs from wheelchairs.
Thanks to the helpful and accommodating staff at Hillcroft House, we were able to complete the work in a single morning without much interruption.
